Ricardo Abend Van Dalen

Immigration Attorney

Ricardo Abend Van Dalen is an attorney specializing in immigration law and a member of Colombo & Hurd. An immigrant from Caracas, Venezuela, he has substantial experience with the immigration process in the United States.

Ricardo graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia, where he majored in Philosophy and won the Daniel Hart Memorial Scholarship. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC, where he was a Dean’s Scholar and Named Scholar.

During his time at Georgetown Law, Ricardo obtained immigration experience as a Spanish-English interpreter and translator in multiple asylum cases via the prestigious Center for Applied Legal Studies (CALS). While there, he also participated in a human rights fact-finding project in El Salvador and completed niche legal internships at the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF).

After earning his law degree and being admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Ricardo worked as a Business Immigration Attorney. He first gained experience in EB1A and E-2 visas while at a boutique immigration law firm.

Then, he joined one of the largest business immigration law firms in the U.S., where he worked his way up to the rank of Senior Attorney by successfully handling a wide variety of immigration matters involving USCIS, CBP, and the Consular Section of the U.S. Department of State, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 visas, along with complex RFEs. While at this prior role, Ricardo helped international professionals and leading U.S. technology companies navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system.

Ricardo lives in Miami, Florida and is fully fluent in English and Spanish. He finds it rewarding to help his fellow immigrants pursue better lives in the United States.
