Charles J. Draeger

Immigration Attorney

Charles J. Draeger is an Immigration Attorney at Colombo & Hurd. Mr. Draeger brings significant courtroom experience from his service as a prosecutor in North Carolina, where he represented the State in both bench and jury trials across a wide range of criminal matters.

Before joining Colombo & Hurd, Mr. Draeger served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Randolph County District Attorney’s Office in Asheboro, North Carolina. In that role, he prosecuted cases in both District and Superior Court, handling matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony prosecutions. His work included conducting jury trials, litigating evidentiary and pre-trial motions, and negotiating case resolutions while working closely with law enforcement and investigative partners.

Throughout the litigation process, Mr. Draeger worked with victims, witnesses, and investigators to prepare cases for trial. His prosecutorial experience also included participation in initiatives connected to the federal Invictus Project addressing online crimes involving the exploitation of minors.

Earlier in his legal career, Mr. Draeger gained experience on both sides of the criminal justice system. As a resident-in-practice with the Guilford County Public Defender’s Office, he represented indigent clients in bond proceedings and prepared motions after conducting client and witness interviews. He also served as a legal intern with the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office, where he conducted trials, argued suppression motions, and assisted with preparation of Superior Court cases.

Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Draeger enjoys traveling and visiting new places. He also plays in a pool league and enjoys the strategy and competition the game offers.
