Benjamin Kia 

Benjamin Kia is an Immigration Attorney at Colombo & Hurd with nearly a decade of experience in U.S. immigration law. His practice focuses on employment-based immigration, extraordinary ability petitions, national interest waivers, and global mobility.

Mr. Kia advises multinational corporations, emerging companies, and highly skilled professionals navigating complex immigration pathways. He is particularly experienced in guiding software engineers, artificial intelligence researchers, and executives through the legal standards and evidentiary requirements governing petitions for individuals of extraordinary ability and achievement.

Prior to joining Colombo & Hurd, Mr. Kia served as an employment-based immigration attorney at a national immigration practice, advising companies and individuals on matters including EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW), O-1, L-1, TN, E-2, PERM, I-140 Immigrant visas, including EB-1A-, EB-2, and EB-3 categories, and H-1B petitions. His background includes experience at a global immigration firm, where he represented multinational corporations in complex business immigration matters, and at immigration boutiques in Washington, D.C., where he managed corporate caseloads and served as a primary point of contact for human resources and global mobility teams.

In addition to his employment-based practice, Mr. Kia has served as in-house immigration counsel to a multinational live entertainment company. He managed nonimmigrant petitions for personnel throughout the United States and abroad, coordinated visa appointments with U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide, and supported international tours and productions on time-sensitive global mobility matters.

Mr. Kia also has experience in humanitarian and family-based immigration. He has assisted with asylum and refugee-based cases and petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), represented family law clients in custody proceedings, and counseled foreign nationals on adjustment of status, naturalization, and immigration interviews.
