Glen Joins Colombo & Hurd’s Federal Immigration Litigation Practice October 9, 2026 Press Release ORLANDO, Fla., October 9, 2026 — Colombo & Hurd, PL announced that Patrick J. Glen has joined the firm as Counsel in its Federal Immigration Litigation Practice. Glen comes to the firm after nearly two decades at the U.S. Department of Justice, most recently as Senior Litigation Counsel in the Office of Immigration Litigation, where he briefed seven merits cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. He joins a practice led by Sarah Wilson, a former senior DOJ official, that has spent the past year in federal court challenging some of the most consequential immigration policies of this administration. Nearly two decades inside the government’s immigration litigation shop As Senior Litigation Counsel in DOJ’s Office of Immigration Litigation, Glen wrote the government’s Supreme Court merits briefs with the Office of the Solicitor General, prepared the arguing attorney, and sat at counsel’s table before the Court. He also handled numerous petition-stage filings, including petitions for certiorari and briefs in opposition, and developed office-wide guidance on significant litigation issues. Earlier, as a Trial Attorney, he briefed cases in every geographic federal court of appeals and argued in the Second, Third, Sixth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits. While detailed to the Office of Management and Budget, Glen reviewed proposed and final regulations for statutory authority and legal sufficiency. Those are the same questions at the heart of the Administrative Procedure Act challenges the firm brings today. He has taught immigration law and appellate practice at Georgetown University Law Center and Penn State Dickinson Law. He holds an LL.M. from Georgetown, a J.D. from Ohio Northern University, and a B.A. from Dickinson College, and is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court. “Patrick spent his career writing the government’s side of these cases, all the way to the Supreme Court,” said Sarah Wilson, Partner and leader of Colombo & Hurd’s Federal Immigration Litigation Practice. “He knows how agencies defend their decisions and where those arguments break down. That makes us stronger for every client we represent.” A litigation team built from DOJ’s own ranks Glen joins two other DOJ veterans in Colombo & Hurd’s Federal Immigration Litigation Practice: Sarah Wilson, Partner and Practice Leader, is a former Assistant Director in DOJ’s Office of Immigration Litigation and served in 2025 as Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division. David Kim, Senior Litigation Counsel, is a former Acting Assistant Director in DOJ’s Civil Division, where he led class actions and APA challenges to federal immigration policy. The team spent years defending the government’s immigration decisions. Now it holds the government to the law. Impact litigation with national reach The practice has been at the center of two of the year’s most significant immigration cases. Striking down the 75-country immigrant visa ban. On August 21, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated a State Department policy that suspended immigrant visas for nationals of 75 countries, nearly 40% of the world’s nations. In Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) v. Rubio, Judge Jeannette A. Vargas found the policy “patently unlawful,” vacated it nationwide, and set aside every visa refusal based solely on it. Colombo & Hurd litigated the case with coalition co-counsel on behalf of families and workers whose lives had been put on hold. Challenging new green card restrictions. On October 5, 2026, the firm joined Democracy Forward, the American Immigration Council, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association in filing American Association of University Professors et al. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security et al. in Boston. The suit challenges two 2026 USCIS policies that penalize applying for a green card from inside the U.S. and allow denials without a chance to submit more evidence. The practice also brings APA challenges to unlawful rules, sues over improper denials in high-skilled categories like EB-1A and EB-2 NIW, and files mandamus actions to force decisions on delayed cases.
