2 min readRecord Number of EB5 (I-526) Approvals for June 2018 at Colombo & Hurd July 12, 2018Written By: Rusten C. Hurd, Esq This past month was a banner month at Colombo & Hurd for approval of EB-5 I-526 Immigrant Petitions by Alien Entrepreneurs. A total of 19(!!) EB-5 petitions were approved for clients of Colombo & Hurd during June. The total of just under twenty EB-5 approvals was a record for the firm but one that firm President Carlos Colombo anticipates will be surpassed in the near future. The Approvals included clients from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Venezuela with a wide array of overall processing times. Notably, several of the approvals were obtained in a time frame well less than the current 20-26 month average processing time listed by USCIS for I-526 Petitions. On the other hand, due to delays from the Immigrant Investor Program Office, several of the Petitions also required intervention by the firm’s federal litigation attorneys in order to obtain approval through a Writ of Mandamus federal claim. Over the past year, Colombo & Hurd attorney’s have been able to obtain approval of 17 delayed I-526 Petitions and counting through the Mandamus process. Most of the Mandamus actions arose from I-526 Petitions filed by other EB-5 attorneys that (either through the Regional Center or the EB-5 Attorney directly) referred the stalled Petitions to Colombo & Hurd for the federal mandamus claims in light of the firm’s recent successes in this field. At Colombo & Hurd we are extremely proud of our 100% approval record on all I-526s filed to date and continue to be excited to serve future investors with all of their immigration needs.
